Colorado State House Votes

Last evening, my opponent and the other Republican leaders of the Colorado House of Representatives placed right wing extremists above the interests of the people of Colorado.
My opponent and his Republican colleagues chose to stop the business of the house in order to prevent a bill on civil unions from receiving a fair and open vote from the full house. My opponent had a choice. In committees, he made the wrong choice three times by opposing equality for all Coloradoans.
We need a representative who will choose what is right. I will always stand up for what is right. Contribute now and show my opponent we choose progress over partisan politics.
In addition to killing the civil unions bill, more than thirty bills were killed because of the Republican house leadership’s procedural games. These bills included measures that would have tightened enforcement of laws that prohibit driving under the influence of marijuana, would have provided reliable water supplies, improved drug treatment (and saved taxpayer dollars), made it easier for pregnant women to obtain dental care and provided greater transparency in our elections. All of these would have benefitted the citizens of Colorado and allowed us to maintain and enhance the quality of life we treasure.

With their unacceptable behavior last night, my opponent and the other extremists in his party, made it clear that they do not believe in self-government. They do not believe that in our city and state we choose our representatives to stand up for the rights of all of us, not just those with whom they happen to agree on issues such as party affiliation and sexual orientation. My opponent has made it abundantly clear that he does not stand up for we, the people of Loveland, but for the special interests and extremists in his own party, regardless of the effect this has on us.
We must stop this now! Contribute now and help stop my opponent from undoing centuries of democratic gains and taking us to a time and place when merit doesn’t matter, hard work doesn’t matter and caring for each other doesn’t matter.
